The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said that the agitation for Biafran’s could no longer be ignored because issues pertaining to the struggle had been laid before various arms and agencies of the United Nations (UN).
IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful stated this in a statement on Thursday. He said Kanu recently led a delegation of “Biafran’s” to a series of meetings with various UN agencies and officials at Geneva.
According to Powerful, Kanu during the meetings, presented Biafra’s plight to the UN officials.
He added that Kanu demanded immediate actions against alleged rights abuses inflicted daily upon Biafrans, and also called for support for the right of Biafrans to self-determination.
“Every issue concerning our people is now before the various arms and agencies of the United Nations. Our case will no longer be ignored.
“The case of RUGA settlement was also raised and the august body was left in doubt that Biafrans will never allow Fulani terror settlements in Biafraland.
“Incessant killing of Biafrans in their own land by terrorist Fulani herdsmen, extortion and killing of Biafran motorcyclists and commercial drivers by Nigerian army and police over refusal to give N50 bribery,” the statement partly read.
Among those who accompanied Kanu during the said meeting were his deputy, Uche Mefor, and head of directorate of state, Chika Edoziem.
