Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is reportedly furious with his employers as they stall on a move for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, reports the Sun.

Negotiations have been ongoing for some time between the Serie A and Premier League sides over the Belgian striker, but talks are moving very slowly. United have made their position clear, saying they will accept no less than £75m for the former Chelsea man, but Inter are continuing to haggle over the price. The Italians have made an offer of around £60m, which would see £40m paid up front and a further £20m over Lukaku’s contract. With the two clubs seemingly at loggerheads, the Inter hierarchy are now thought to be rethinking the idea of signing the Belgian entirely, believing there could be better value for money elsewhere.

Conte is reportedly seething at this approach having made Lukaku his number one transfer target when he took over at the club earlier this summer. The former Chelsea boss was made promises over a significant transfer budget at Inter, but no major signings have materialised as yet. The likes of Valentino Lazaro, Matteo Politano and Eddie Salcedo have been signed, but none of the marquee names that Conte had in mind. Edin Dzeko is another wanted man by Conte, but another deal that is dragging on as the new season approaches. The 49-year-old was also keen to get rid of the likes of Mauro Icardi, Radja Nainggolan and Jaoa Mario this summer, but all still remain at the club. The Italian boss appears to be showing his frustration by not facing the press since he was appointed, only conducting one interview, on the day he arrived at Inter. Inter are looking into other options, though, with PSG’s Edison Cavani reportedly another target up front, according to Tuttosport, who claim United have ‘put up a wall’ in the Lukaku negotiations.
